What Your System Is Telling You

Pick the symptom that sounds familiar. We will show you what it could mean and how we diagnose it.

What you're seeing
Likely cause
A circulation or balancing issue, or a heating system that no longer matches how the house is laid out.
What we check
  • Flow to the affected room or zone
  • Air, balancing, and circulator performance
  • Whether renovations or additions changed the heating load
One room never warms up
Likely cause
An older unit losing efficiency, or a boiler that is cycling more than it should.
What we check
  • System age and expected lifespan
  • Boiler sizing and heat demand
  • Efficiency loss and short-cycling
The bill keeps climbing
Likely cause
The failed part may not be the whole problem. Age, surrounding components, and parts availability can start making replacement the better decision.
What we check
  • What has already been repaired
  • The condition of the rest of the system
  • Repair cost, parts availability, and remaining lifespan
You have paid for the same repair twice
Likely cause
It could be a leaking fitting, pressure issue, condensate problem, or a failure inside the boiler.
What we check
  • Exactly where the water is coming from
  • Fittings, valves, pressure, and connections
  • Condensate components and the boiler itself
Water around the base of the unit
Likely cause
Air in the system, a circulator beginning to fail, or buildup affecting how water moves through the system.
What we check
  • Air and system pressure
  • Circulators and moving components
  • Flow restrictions, scale, and system condition
New noises
Likely cause
A loss of heat can come from the controls, ignition, circulation, fuel supply, or another system fault. This one needs to be diagnosed quickly.
What we check
  • Thermostat and call for heat
  • Power, controls, ignition, and safety faults
  • Circulation and whether the boiler is firing properly
No heat at all

We tell you which one it is. If a repair will get you through the season, we will say so rather than quote a new boiler by default.

Why Sizing Decides Everything

The Right System, Not the Biggest

The most expensive heating mistake is not a brand. It is a boiler sized for a house that does not need it.

Oversized

Short cycles

It reaches temperature fast, shuts off, cools, and fires again. More starts, more wear, and you pay for every one of them.
Sized to the home

Longer, steadier runs

Fewer starts, more even heat through the house, and less of the cycling that shortens a unit's life.

We size on your home's heat load, not on the badge of the unit coming out.

Quoted after the assessment

Radiant in-floor heating

Radiant is priced from the floor area, the build-up, and what is already there. A per-square-foot number quoted before anyone has seen the floor is a guess, and we would rather give you a real one after the assessment.

Your exact number for any of this comes from the free assessment and a written quote, and nothing is ordered before you have approved it.

The Heating and the Plumbing Around It

A boiler swap is a plumbing job with a gas licence attached. Because we hold both, the piping, the water connections and the gas work are one crew and one number, from the assessment to the final test.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

1Should I repair or replace my boiler?
It depends on the age, the repair history and the efficiency. The assessment gives you a straight recommendation, not an automatic replacement.
2How much does a boiler replacement cost?
A simple like-for-like boiler or combi swap can start at $8,000 plus HST. Moving from a floor-mount to a wall-hung unit can start at $12,500, and jobs with significant repiping or new accessory equipment can run $16,000+. Your assessment shows you where yours lands before anything is ordered.
3How long does a boiler install take?
It depends on the system. Many are able to be completed in one to two days. You get a timeline with your written quote.
4Is the assessment free?
Yes.
5How do you size a boiler?
We base it on your home's heat load, not just the size of the old unit, during the assessment.
6Can you fix uneven heating?
Often yes. Uneven heat can be a sizing, circulation or system issue, which the assessment identifies.
7Do you offer emergency no-heat service?
Call the no-heat line and we will tell you the earliest we can get to you. We are not a 24/7 service.
8Do you install radiant floor heating?
Yes, radiant in-floor heating is one of the systems we install.
9Is a combi boiler right for me?
A combi heats your home and makes your hot water from one unit, which suits homes short on space. The assessment tells you whether it fits yours.
10Do you service my brand of boiler?
We work on most makes. Call us with your model and we will confirm.
11Do you handle permits?
Where the work needs a permit, we handle it and the inspection.
12What does a tune-up include?
We inspect, clean and test the system, and flag anything that needs attention.
We do not offer 24/7 emergency service. Our team works scheduled hours, Monday to Friday, 7am to 5pm. Call the no-heat line and we will tell you the earliest we can get to you.
