Before you shop
Look under your sink or at the deck behind the faucet. Most kitchen sinks have one to four holes. A one-hole faucet can cover a three-hole sink with a deck plate, but a three-hole faucet won’t fit a one-hole sink.
Bathroom faucets come in single-hole, 4-inch centerset and 8-inch widespread. Measure from the centre of the outside holes before you buy.

Repair or replace?
Before you buy a new faucet, check whether yours just needs a part.
Usually a worn cartridge or seals. A repair is often cheaper than a new faucet.
Often a supply line or connection. Check it soon, because it rots the cabinet floor.
Usually a clogged aerator or cartridge, common with hard water.
The mounting nut has worked loose. Cheaper faucets do this more often.

Low-cost faucets loosen, crack, leak at their connections and use hoses that kink. Even name brands make an entry-level line and a commercial line that look alike in the store. We install the ones we know will last, and that is what lets us guarantee our work for a year.

Most faucet problems come from the parts, not the install. We guarantee faucets we choose because we trust them.
Yes, when we are replacing a sink in an existing countertop hole. We prefer not to cut the hole. On rare occasions we will enlarge the opening in a laminate countertop to fit a larger sink. We never cut or drill granite or other premium countertops. That is a job for your countertop installer, who can also mount the sink for you.
Yes. A spare hole or a new one in the sink deck can hold a reverse osmosis drinking tap.
