Plumbing in Baden
Baden’s hard groundwater, newer subdivisions and nearby rural wells shape a lot of the work we do here.
Water
Baden’s municipal water comes from the Region of Waterloo’s groundwater wells and runs about 20 grains per gallon, which is hard on our scale. A 30,000 grain softener suits most homes of two to four. See Region of Waterloo’s water softener facts.
Permits
Most plumbing work on water, sanitary and storm lines needs a building permit from the Township of Wilmot. We pull the permit and book the inspection as part of the job.
Newer homes
Many Baden homes are in newer subdivisions, where the original builder-grade water heaters and softeners are reaching the end of their life. See water heater replacement.
Storms
Heavy storms test sump pumps and floor drains. A battery backup sump pump keeps working when the power goes out.
